The section final between Rochester Century/John Marshall and Lakeville South was delayed for more than a half-hour Thursday night when fans celebrating a Rochester goal shattered two panes of protective rink glass.

The moment happened with about 12:40 left in the second period as Rochester took a 2-0 lead over Lakeville, causing fans to surge towards the barrier to celebrate with the team.

Two panes promptly shattered, spilling glass onto the rink and sending a couple of exuberant fans over the barrier.

It forced the temporary suspension of the game at the Rochester Recreation Center as replacement glass was found, with the Rochester Post Bulletin's Jason Feldman reporting that the two new panes that was procured was shorter than the others.

You can watch the moment the glass shatters from 1:13:40 in the below video, courtesy of Rochester Century/JM Panther Hockey.

In the end, the two teams agreed to continue with the shorter glass, with #2 Rochester Century/JM making the state finals with a famous 4-1 upset victory over #1 Lakeville South in section 1AA.

And here are a couple of fans sharing their injuries postgame.

In other section championships Thursday night, Chanhassen shocked undefeated Minnetonka with a 2-1 win in Section 2AA. More on that here.
