Joel Embiid latest star to sit out a visit to Target Center

Embiid played 41 minutes in the 76ers loss to Cleveland Tuesday night

On the second night of a back-to-back, 76ers star Joel Embiid is set to rest Wednesday night against the Wolves.

The absence will be Embiid's first missed game of the season. The 76ers center played 41 minutes in the 76ers' 122-119 loss in Cleveland Tuesday night and is reportedly suffering hip soreness, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania.

Embiid is just the latest star to sit out when taking on the Wolves at Target Center this season. Jimmy Butler notably sat out in the Heat's visit to Minnesota, it was Miami's third game of the season. New Orleans forward Zion Williamson sat out in the Pelican's 122-101 loss in Minnesota earlier in November.

Last season Clippers star Kawhi Leonard sat out a trip to Minnesota on the second night of a back-to-back in January. Reigning MVP Nikola Jokic skipped a game in Minnesota in February on the end of a back-to-back while James Harden sat out an early March game at Target Center after a game in Indiana the night before.

Minnesota are off to an undefeated, 6-0 start at home this season as they sit atop the Western Conference at 10-3. Tip off between the Wolves and 76ers Wednesday night is set for 7 p.m.
