Two days of joint practices with the Minnesota Vikings and San Francisco 49ers yielded some interesting results. Here are the biggest takeaways from Matthew Coller of Purple Insider.

  • 0:19 Vikings offense shines on both days
  • 0:38 Backup QB battle
  • 1:25 Ed Ingram locking up the RG job
  • 2:05 Vikings defense kept Trey Lance in check
  • 2:33 Chris Reed is dealing with an injury
  • 2:43 Irv Smith Jr. on track to play in Week 1

"What we saw in the first day, Kellen Mond performed pretty well. Especially in a two-minute drive," said Coller, talking about the backup quarterback battle. "In Day 2, Sean Mannion had a better showing."

"Nothing decided with these practices for who the backup quarterback will be," he added, noting that head coach Kevin O'Connell has not announced who will start against the 49ers in Saturday's preseason game.

With Ed Ingram appearing to have taken command of the starting right guard job, the Vikings could feature an offensive line with all first- and second-round picks.

  • LT: Christian Darrisaw - 1st round 2021
  • LG: Ezra Cleveland - 2nd round 2020
  • C: Garrett Bradbury - 1st round 2019
  • RG: Ed Ingram - 2nd round 2022
  • RT: Brian O'Neill - 2nd round 2018

"Ed Ingram has more or less officially taken over the right guard position as the starter with the ones. In each fo these days, he was the No. 1 right guard for every rep and we should expect that to be exactly the same going forward," said Coller.
