It certainly didn't come as a surprise Friday afternoon, but the Minnesota Vikings announced they had moved Adrian Peterson to injured reserve.

Peterson underwent successful surgery to repair his torn meniscus in his right knee Thursday. He suffered the injury Sunday night against the Green Bay Packers in his first game at U.S. Bank Stadium.

The Vikings have not established a timeline for AP's return, but by moving him to injured reserve Peterson can not return before Nov. 20.

Jerick McKinnon and Matt Asiata are expected to carry much of the load on Sunday against Carolina with Peterson out.

The Vikings also signed Ronnie Hillman earlier this week. He ran for over 800 yards last season while playing for the Super Bowl champion Broncos.
