The Vikings battered Cam Newton and improved to 3-0 after Sunday's 22-10 win over the Carolina Panthers.

Newton threw three interceptions and was sacked eight times by a Vikings defense that pitched a shutout after a shaky first quarter where they allowed 10 quick points.

Danielle Hunter sacked Newton in the end zone for Minnesota's first two points of the game. Trailing 10-2 in the second quarter, Marcus Sherels returned a punt 54 yards for a touchdown, but Blair Walsh missed the extra point wide to the right.
