Former Minnesota Vikings center John Sullivan has found a new home. The Washington Redskins signed Sullivan Tuesday afternoon.

Sullivan, 31, had spent his entire NFL career with the Vikings until he was released during the preseason. The Vikings had been shopping the veteran, but were unable to find a trade partner.

Sullivan missed all of last season while recovering from two back surgeries. Joe Berger took over for him last year and beat him out during training camp. He was one of the team's most popular players.

According to Pro Football Talk, the Redskins needed a center after Kory Lichtensteiger was placed on injured reserve due to a calf injury. Sullivan worked out with Washington earlier in the day.

Sullivan played in 109 regular season games with 93 starts over nine seasons with Minnesota. He's expected to compete with Spencer Long for the starting center spot in Washington.
