The Minnesota Wild re-signed defenseman Marco Scandella to a two-year contract, the club announced Monday.

"It's been weighing on my mind ever since the season was over," Scandella told Wild.com. "I'm really happy we got a deal done."

The contract is worth a reported $2.05 million.

Scandella is the second player general manager Chuck Fletcher has re-signed in the last week. Veteran winger Stephane Veilleux was the first to sign.

Scandella, 23, played in only six regular season games last season before playing a significant role on the blue line in Minnesota's first-round playoff loss to the Chicago Blackhawks.

Scandella was the Wild's second-round pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
