Mariners vs. White Sox Predictions, Picks & Best Bets on FS1 - Mon, 8/21

Mariners

Tonight, the Seattle Mariners will hit the road and travel to Chicago to square off against the White Sox. The Mariners are on fire right now at the right time, as they’ve now won six games in a row on back-to-back sweeps of the Royals and an impressive Astros team. They’re battling for the playoffs and making a very good case for themselves. The AL wild card race continues, and Seattle looks to continue playing good ball to keep themselves in position for a playoff berth.

On the other hand, we look at the home team White Sox who have been struggling as of late. Winning only two of their last eight games and out of the wild card race, this team has to feel defeated at this point in the season. Mariners vs. White Sox Predictions for Monday, 8/21 on FS1

To begin this series in Chicago, we have a fun pitching matchup and a surging Mariners team looking to capitalize on a lesser White Sox ball club. To make our Mariners vs. White Sox predictions, we’ll look at the projected starting lineups and pitchers for tonight’s contest.

As always, we’ll start with tonight’s pitchers. On the mound for Seattle is Luis Castillo. He’s been fantastic so far for the Mariners, with a winning 9-7 record and a very solid ERA of 3.23. Castillo is coming off a recent win, in which he went seven innings and got the job done. He shouldn’t have many issues with the White Sox lineup tonight, and we predict a solid start out of him where he can hopefully go seven innings again.

Pitching for Chicago is Touki Toussaint, who’s been a little bit up and down this whole season. His record is just 1-5 so far, and his ERA is a respectable 4.47. In his last outing, he gave up three runs over only four innings. We predict a similar outing from him tonight against this surging Seattle lineup who’s looking to keep the train rolling for their seventh win in a row.

Now, let’s look at some key players for both of these squads. Starting off with Seattle, we obviously need to mention All-Star Julio Rodriguez. J-Rod is hitting for an average of .278 with 79 RBIs to go along with it. He’s shown that he’s the future of their franchise and continues to stay hot. The Mariners also have Cal Raleigh, who’s been swinging a great bat with 22 home runs on the year. The whole Seattle lineup can certainly hit, and we see them taking full advantage tonight with this pitching matchup.

As far as Chicago’s key hitters go, they shouldn’t be slept on. Andrew Benintendi can do it all at the plate and is hitting .278 at the moment. On top of that, Luis Robert Jr. has a whopping 33 homers on the season, paired with 67 RBIs.

Although Chicago has been decent at times this year, it’s hard to fade Seattle with the way they’ve been playing. They’re lighting teams up with their offense and have Luis Castillo on the mound backing them up. Our Mariners vs. White Sox predictions are that Castillo can keep the White Sox very much at bay, while the Mariners slowly extend their lead throughout the game to win by multiple runs on Monday night.

Mariners vs. White Sox Picks & Best Bets

As stated above, we’ll be riding with the Seattle Mariners in this Monday night showdown. Their offense is simply better than Chicago’s, especially right now. With Luis Castillo on the mound, we’re even more confident taking the Mariners run line of -1.5 (-115) at DraftKings Sportsbook.

Also, we like Luis Castillo to get over 6.5 strikeouts, priced at -105. He tends to run up his pitch counts and stay in the game as long as possible. With the pitches in his arsenal against a lesser White Sox lineup, let’s take a shot on Castillo’s strikeouts here.
