Ben Simmons Injury Update Before Knicks-Nets Game

The Brooklyn Nets announced an update on Ben Simmons.

On Wednesday evening, the Brooklyn Nets will host the New York Knicks at the Barclays Center.

For the game, the Nets will remain without Ben Simmons, who has been out since November 6.   

The Nets have also announced an update on the three-time NBA All-Star. 

Via The Nets: "Ben Simmons (left lower back nerve impingement) has displayed consistent strength improvement in the affected area over the past two weeks and has further increased individual court work. His status will be updated again in approximately two weeks."

Simmons has played in six games so far this season and is averaging 6.5 points, 10.8 rebounds and 6.7 assists per contest while shooting 52.8% from the field.  

The Nets are 13-13 in their first 26 games, which has them as the ninth seed in the Eastern Conference.  

They are 5-5 over their last ten games and in the middle of a three-game losing streak. 

Following the Knicks, the Nets will play their next game on Friday evening when they host Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets.

At home, they are 8-5 in the 13 games they have hosted at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. 

Simmons was the first pick in the 2015 NBA Draft out of LSU and is in his sixth season playing in the league (he has also played for the Philadelphia 76ers).  

The 27-year-old has career averages of 14.6 points, 7.9 rebounds, 7.5 assists and 1.6 steals per contest while shooting 56.0% from the field in 323 regular season games.
