BREAKING: Chris Paul Injury Update Reported Following Suns-Nuggets Game 2

Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium reported an update on Chris Paul.

On Monday evening, the Phoenix Suns lost Game 2 of their second-round playoff series against the Denver Nuggets by a score of 97-87.

However, the more significant concern was the fact that star point guard Chris Paul left the game with an injury (and did not return).

Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium reported an update on Paul (on Tuesday).

Charania: "Phoenix Suns guard Chris Paul is expected to be re-evaluated in one week after MRI on his groin injury today, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Suns are preparing to be without Paul through Games 3-5, sources said."

The 37-year-old has averaged 12.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, 7.4 assists and 1.7 steals per contest while shooting 41.8% from the field through the first seven games of the 2023 NBA Playoffs.

Since the Suns have lost the first two games of the series, they are in an 0-2 hole going back to Phoenix for Games 3 on Friday.

While Paul is no longer the superstar he once was, losing him for several games could severely impact the Suns' ability to win the series.

In the first round, the Suns beat the Los Angeles Clippers in five games.

They are the fifth seed in the Western Conference and have one of the most talented starting lineups in the NBA that features Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton (in addition to Paul).

The Nuggets are the first seed and defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round (in five games)

Whoever wins the series will face off against either the Golden State Warriors or the Los Angeles Lakers in the Conference Finals.
