On Monday evening, the New York Knicks will host the Toronto Raptors at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Before the game, the team announced an injury update on starting center Mitchell Robinson.

Via Knicks PR: "Mitchell Robinson will have left ankle surgery this week at the Hospital for Special Surgery. He will be re-evaluated in 8-10 weeks."

Robinson has played in all 21 games so far this season and is averaging 6.2 points, 10.3 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.3 blocks per contest while shooting 59.2% from the field.

He is the team's best rebounder and defender.

Currently, the Knicks are the seventh seed in the Western Conference with a 12-9 record in their first 21 games.

They are in the middle of a two-game losing streak and are 6-4 over their last ten games.

Most recently, the Knicks lost to the Boston Celtics by a score of 133-123 on Friday evening.

In 19 minutes of playing time, Robinson had ten points, eight rebounds, two assists and one steal while shooting 5/6 from the field.

Robinson was initially the 36th pick in the 2018 NBA Draft and is in his sixth season in the league (all with the Knicks).

He has helped the Knicks make the NBA playoffs in two of the previous three seasons, and the franchise is coming off a year where they won their first playoff series since 2013.

The 25-year-old has career averages of 8.1 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per contest in 310 regular season games.
