UPDATE: Pistons Player Reportedly Punched Suns Player Before Game

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Isaiah Stewart punched Drew Eubanks before Wednesday's game.

UPDATE: Mark McClune of azfamily 3TV CBS 5 reported that Stewart was arrested and released.   

Via McClune: "BREAKING NEWS from @azfamily Phoenix Police arrested Isaiah Stewart for assaulting Drew Eubanks. Stewart was issued a citation and released. The investigation remains active."

UPDATE: The Phoenix Suns have released a statement (h/t Duane Rankin of azcentral).    

The Suns (via Rankin): "The attack on Drew Eubanks was unprovoked, and acts of violence such as this are unacceptable. We unequivocally support Drew, and will continue to work with local law enforcement and the NBA"

On Wednesday evening, the Detroit Pistons and Phoenix Suns will face off in Arizona. 

Before the game, Shams Charania of The Athletic reported that there was an altercation between Isaiah Stewart and Drew Eubanks

Via Charania: "Sources: Detroit Pistons F/C Isaiah Stewart punched Phoenix's Drew Eubanks in the back tunnels of Suns arena today. It's unclear what sparked the altercation. The NBA is expected to receive footage to review. More to come."

Charania also added more details about what transpired. 

Via Charania: "Both Stewart and Eubanks were going chest-to-chest before a swing to Eubanks' face connected on Wednesday, sources said. Both were separated and there is police presence involved with the situation in Phoenix tonight."

Stewart is in his fourth year in the NBA (all with the Pistons) and is averaging 11.0 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists per contest while shooting 47.0% from the field and 37.4% from the three-point range in 35 games this season.  

However, he has not played in the previous seven games and had been ruled out for Wednesday's game due to an ankle injury.  

Meanwhile, Eubanks has played in 48 games and is averaging 5.6 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.0 assists per contest while shooting 63.7% from the field.  

He is in his sixth season in the league and has also spent time with the San Antonio Spurs and Portland Trail Blazers. 

The Pistons are the 15th seed in the Eastern Conference with an 8-45 record in 53 games.    

As for the Suns, they are the fifth seed in the Western Conference with a 32-22 record in 54 games.
