Derrick White Injured In Celtics-Bucks Game On Tuesday Night

Following their loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday night, Boston Celtics guard Derrick White did not travel back to Boston with the team due to a left ear injury.

Without key starters in Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart and Al Horford, the Boston Celtics made things interesting against the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday night, but they were unable to get past the Bucks in overtime, as Milwaukee won 131-125.

Milwaukee extended their current win streak to eleven games and are now just 0.5 games behind the Celtics for the 1-seed in the Eastern Conference with both teams having one game left ahead of the All-Star break.

Playing a back-to-back against the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night, the Celtics will definitely be without Jaylen Brown, but they could also be without reigning Eastern Conference Player of the Week Derrick White as well.

Against the Bucks, White was hit in his left ear late in the game and seemed to be visibly shaken up, as he went over to the bench and was pointing to his ear as if he was having trouble hearing out of it. Ultimately, White did not exit the game and he finished the night with a team-high 27 points and 12 assists.

After the game though, TNT's Jared Greenberg reported that Derrick White has stayed behind in Milwaukee and did not travel back to Boston with the team in order to see an ear specialist due to the fact that he is having trouble hearing out of his left ear.

Set to play the Pistons on Wednesday night in Boston as mentioned earlier, White's status for this final game before the All-Star break is in jeopardy.

The Celtics have not given any updates on White or his injury.

With Marcus Smart dealing with a right ankle injury and not playing since January 21, Derrick White has stepped up into a much larger role for the Celtics and has been having a tremendous month.

Over his last seven games, White is now averaging 22.6 points, 5.1 rebounds and 6.9 assists per game while shooting 43.6 percent from three-point range. Following Tuesday's performance, White has now recorded three consecutive point-assist double-doubles for the first time in his career.
