FINAL UPDATE: Gary Payton II's Injury Status For Spurs-Warriors Game

UPDATE: Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports Bay Area reported an update.  

Via Johnson: "Gary Payton II has a few more boxes to check to play tonight. He’s doing well but still a little sore after shootaround. Going to get some more treatment now. GP2 should be able to play, barring any setbacks"

On Friday evening, the Golden State Warriors will host the San Antonio Spurs at the Chase Center in San Francisco.  

For the game, the Warriors will likely have one of their best role players back in action, as NBA Champion Gary Payton II is listed as probable.  

Via Anthony Slater of The Athletic: "Gary Payton II is probable for the Warriors tomorrow vs Spurs. On track to return after three missed games."

Payton II has played in 12 games this season and has averages of 6.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.2 steals per contest while shooting 45.3% from the field and 34.6% from the three-point range.  

The Warriors are 7-9 in their first 16 games, which has them as the 11th seed in the Western Conference. 

They most recently lost to Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns by a score of 123-115 (on Wednesday) in Arizona.

At home, the Warriors have a 2-6 record in the eight games they have hosted in San Francisco. 

As for the Spurs, they are 3-12 in their first 15 games, which has them as the 15th seed in the west. 

They are in the middle of a ten-game losing streak.
