Joel Embiid is officially listed as doubtful for Game 1.

UPDATE: ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Joel Embiid has been ruled out.

On Monday evening, the Philadelphia 76ers will be in Massachusetts to take on the Boston Celtics for Game 1 of their second-round playoff series.

For the game, All-Star center Joel Embiid is officially listed as doubtful on the injury report.

Via Underdog NBA: "Status alert: Joel Embiid (knee) officially listed doubtful for Monday."

The 76ers swept the Brooklyn Nets in the first round, but Embiid did not play in Game 4.

On Saturday, Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium reported an update on the former Kansas star.

Charania's first tweet: "Sources: The knee injury 76ers star Joel Embiid suffered April 20 is considered to be more serious than a Grade 1 LCL sprain. He is currently doubtful for Game 1 vs. Boston."

Charania's second tweet: "As Embiid’s history of playing through injuries and pain shows, it can be fluid depending on his progress. He has been able to do some individual spot-up shooting the past several days and will be evaluated daily."

During the regular season, Embiid averaged a sensational 33.1 points, 10.2 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.7 blocks per contest while shooting 54.8% from the field.

He is one of the three finalists for the 2023 MVP Award.

The 76ers had an excellent regular season and finished as the third seed in the Eastern Conference with a 54-28 record.

As for the Celtics, they are the second seed (57-25) and beat the Atlanta Hawks in the first round (in six games).

During the regular season, the 76ers went just 1-3 in their four matchups with the Celtics.
