The Lakers finished their season as the seventh seed in the Western Conference with a 43-39 record.

They went 8-2 over their final ten games and are a very solid 23-18 in the 41 games they have hosted on their home floor in Los Angeles, California.

Last year, the Lakers went 33-49 and missed the playoffs (and play-in tournament).

However, they won the NBA Championship in 2020 and have arguably an even more talented roster this season.

Therefore, they will have a chance to make a deep run.

The winner of Tuesday's showdown will become the seventh seed and face off with Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round of the NBA Playoffs.

Meanwhile, the loser will host either the Oklahoma City Thunder or New Orleans Pelicans in the final play-in tournament game.

As for the Timberwolves, they are the eighth seed with a 42-40 record.

They finished the year in the middle of a three-game winning streak and 7-3 over their final ten games.

That said, the Timberwolves are just 20-21 in the 41 games they have played on the road away from the Target Center.

Last year, they made the NBA Playoffs for the first time since the 2018 season.
