Bucks Starter Expected To Miss Remainder Of Regular Season

Milwaukee Bucks starting shooting guard Grayson Allen is dealing with an ankle injury that will likely result in him missing the team’s final three regular season games.

With the NBA regular season set to conclude on April 9, the Milwaukee Bucks remain one of the heavy favorites to win the 2023 NBA Finals.

Led by two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Bucks have consistently been one of the best offensive teams all year long and they are powered by their three-point shooting.

Grayson Allen has quickly become a key three-point shooting weapon for Milwaukee and Allen has started in 70 of the 72 games he has played this season, averaging 39.9 percent from three-point range.

However, Allen missed Tuesday’s game against the Washington Wizards and he is expected to be held out the remainder of the regular season due to a right ankle sprain, an injury that occurred in Milwaukee’s recent game against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Right before the playoffs, injuries are the last thing any team wants to see and Allen’s injury could very well carry over into the Bucks’ first-round series.

“There was an MRI,” head coach Mike Budenholzer said recently, via The Athletic’s Eric Nehm. “I think the findings – we’re hopeful that, given that we have a week of games now and then kind of a week of preparation and waiting to see who comes out of the play-in tournaments, may coincide with he’s available.”

Budenholzer did mention that there are “scenarios” in which Grayson Allen could be available for the team’s first playoff game.

On the season, Allen has been a key perimeter weapon as mentioned earlier, as he is averaging 10.4 points while making about 2.0 threes per game, the second-most on the team.

In his absence, the Bucks are expected to give more minutes to Jevon Carter, Joe Ingles and Pat Connaughton out on the perimeter.

The team will likely give another update on Grayson Allen’s status at the conclusion of the regular season.
