New York Knicks Player Limited In Practice Ahead Of Playoffs

Fred Katz of The Athletic relayed an update on New York Knicks forward Julius Randle.

On Saturday evening, the New York Knicks will face off with the Cleveland Cavaliers in Ohio for Game 1 of their first-round playoff series.

All-Star forward Julius Randle has been out of the lineup since March 29 with an ankle injury.

For Saturday's game, his status is still unknown, and on Thursday, Fred Katz of The Athletic relayed an update on the former Kentucky star (h/t Underdog NBA).

Via Katz: "Julius Randle did "parts of practice," Tom Thibodeau said. Said "he's continuing to progress, but he still hasn't had contact.""

Randle has had a fantastic season with averages of 25.1 points, 10.0 rebounds and 4.1 assists per contest over 77 games.

He also shot 45.9% from the field and 34.3% from the three-point range.

In 2021, the two-time NBA All-Star led the Knicks to the NBA Playoffs as the fourth seed (they lost to the Atlanta Hawks in the first round).

However, last year they missed the postseason.

The Knicks were able to finish the 2022-23 regular season as the fifth seed with a 47-35 record.

They went 5-5 over their final ten games and are an outstanding 24-17 in the 41 games they have played on the road away from Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Randle is in his fourth season with the franchise and has also spent time with the Los Angeles Lakers and New Orleans Pelicans.

In four games against the Cavs this season, the Knicks went 3-1, and they won each of the last three.
