New York Knicks Player Has A Sprained Ankle

New York Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau announced that Immanuel Quickley has a sprained ankle.

UPDATE: Tom Thibodeau said that Immanuel Quickley is day-to-day (via Tim Reynolds of The Associated Press).

On Saturday afternoon, the New York Knicks played Game 3 of their second-round playoff series on the road in Florida against the Miami Heat.

They got blown out by a score of 105-86, so the series is now 2-1 in favor of the Heat.

Immanuel Quickley got injured during the game and went to the locker room.

After the game, head coach Tom Thibodeau met with the media and revealed that the former Kentucky star has a sprained ankle and said they would know more about the injury on Sunday.

Quickley is one of the team's most important role players and averaged 14.9 points per contest while shooting 44.8% from the field and 37.0% from the three-point range during the regular season.

He finished the day with 12 points, one rebound and one steal in 20 minutes of playing time.

After losing Game 1 (on their home floor at Madison Square Garden), the Knicks did an excellent job of rebounding and winning Game 2 by a score of 111-105.

That said, they are now in a tough spot, trailing 2-1 with Game 4 on Monday night in Miami.

If the Knicks lose, they will go back home for Game 5 on Wednesday night in a 3-1 hole.

That said, a victory would tie up the series at 2-2 and put them in an excellent position going forward.

The status of Quickley will be something to monitor.

Jimmy Butler, who missed Game 2, returned and led the Heat with 28 points.
