Paul George's Reported Status For Clippers-Suns Playoff Series

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, "Paul George is expected to be sidelined to begin the first-round playoff series" between the Los Angeles Clippers and Phoenix Suns.

UPDATE: Paul George gave an update on his injury during Monday's episode of Podcast P with Paul George

On Sunday, the Los Angeles Clippers will begin their first-round playoff series against Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns in Arizona.

The Clippers (44-38) finished as the fifth seed, while the Suns (45-37) are the fourth seed and have a home-court advantage.

Unfortunately, the Clippers have played without one of their top-two players (All-Star Paul George) for the last nine games due to a knee injury.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, the former Fresno State star "is expected to be sidelined to begin the first-round playoff series."

Via Charania on April 10: "Sources: Clippers star Paul George is expected to be sidelined to begin the first-round playoff series against the Suns, but is making some tangible progress from his March 21 knee injury."

The good news is that Charania doesn't say he will be out for the entire series, and George's podcast (Podcast P with Paul George) announced that they would be doing "an exclusive update on his recovery" on Monday.

George has had a phenomenal season with averages of 23.8 points, 6.1 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 1.5 steals per contest in 56 games while shooting 45.7% from the field and 37.1% from the three-point range.

If the Clippers are to have any chance at an upset over the Suns, they will need George to play at some point during the series.

The Suns have arguably the most talented starting lineup in the league that features Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, Chris Paul and Deandre Ayton.

This season, the two teams split their four games against each other.
