Victor Wembanyama's Official Status For Spurs-Trail Blazers Game

Victor Wembanyama is on the injury report for Friday's game.

On Friday evening, the San Antonio Spurs will be in Oregon to face off against the Portland Trail Blazers.

For the game, they will be without their best player, as rookie Victor Wembanyama has been ruled out.

Via Jeff McDonald of San Antonio Express-News: "As expected, Victor Wembanyama will not play in tonight's b2b closer at Portland. Official reason is "rest."

It is a team decision and not a Vic decision, I'm told. Though Vic feels fine, med staff wants to reduce strain on the right ankle he has rolled three times this month."

Wembanyama has played in 27 games so far this season and is averaging 18.8 points, 10.4 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.3 steals and 3.2 blocks per contest while shooting 44.0% from the field and 28.5% from the three-point range.

That said, the Spurs are only 5-25 in their first 30 games, which has them as the 15th seed in the Western Conference.

They defeated the Trail Blazers (also in Oregon) on Thursday evening by a score of 118-105.

In only 24 minutes of playing time, Wembanyama had 30 points, six rebounds, six assists and seven blocks while shooting 9/14 from the field and 2/4 from the three-point range.

Following Friday's game, the Spurs will return home to host Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics on Sunday in Texas.

As for the Trail Blazers, they are the 14th seed in the Western Conference with an 8-22 record in their first 30 games.

They are 2-8 over their last ten games.
