11-Year NBA Veteran Reportedly Joining ESPN

According to Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports, 11-year NBA veteran Austin Rivers will join ESPN.

Austin Rivers is coming off a year where he played in 52 regular season games for the Minnesota Timberwolves

Rivers averaged 4.9 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists per contest while shooting 43.5% from the field and 35.0% from the three-point range (he also appeared in four NBA playoff games).

This summer, the 31-year-old became a free agent, and he still remains available to be signed by any team in the league.

On Monday, Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports reported that Rivers will join ESPN this season.

Via McCarthy: "NEWS: ESPN's NBA studio analysts this year will include Andre Iguodala, ex Knicks GM Scott Perry, Austin Rivers, Stephanie White and Becky Hammon, said David Roberts on a press call."

Rivers was initially the tenth pick in the 2012 NBA Draft after playing one season of college basketball for the Duke Blue Devils.

Over 11 seasons in the NBA, he has played for the Los Angeles Clippers, Houston Rockets, Denver Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves.

His career averages are 8.5 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.1 assists per contest while shooting 41.9% from the field and 34.9% from the three-point range in 707 regular season games (he has also appeared in 64 NBA playoff games).

According to Legion Hoops, Rivers will also broadcast an ESPN game with his dad (Doc Rivers), who joined ESPN in August.

Via Legion Hoops: "Austin Rivers is set to join ESPN as an analyst and will call at least one NBA game with his dad, Doc Rivers this season."
