14-Year NBA Veteran Is Still A Free Agent

Taj Gibson still remains a free agent.

Taj Gibson is coming off a season where he played in 49 games for the Washington Wizards and averaged 3.4 points and 1.9 rebounds per contest while shooting 52.0% from the field and 33.3% from the three-point range.

This summer, the 14-year NBA veteran became a free agent, and he remains available to be signed by any team in the league.

In addition to his stint with Washington, Gibson (who was the 26th pick in the 2009 NBA Draft out of USC) has also played for the Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks, Minnesota Timberwolves and Oklahoma City Thunder.

His career averages are 8.7 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.0 blocks per contest while shooting 51.8% from the field and 26.7% from the three-point range in 945 regular season games (he has also appeared in 71 NBA playoff games).

The longest tenure of Gibson's career came with Chicago (seven and a half seasons), and he played in 56 playoff games for the franchise.

Since the 37-year-old has tremendous experience, he could be an excellent pickup for a contender looking to add depth to their bench or a young team in need of a veteran for their locker room.

As for the Wizards, they are coming off a season where they were the 12th seed in the Eastern Conference with a 35-47 record.

They have missed the NBA playoffs for two straight seasons and made significant changes to the roster this summer by trading away Kristaps Porzingis and three-time All-Star Bradley Beal.
