The 2022-23 All-NBA First Team outlined above is highlighted by two MVP finalists in Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks and Joel Embiid from the Philadelphia 76ers.

Embiid, who was picked to win this year’s MVP award in Fastbreak on FanNation’s media poll, received 16 out of 20 first team votes in the media vote after leading the league in scoring for the second consecutive season.

As for Antetokounmpo, there were no questions about the season he had, as he was the only unanimous selection in the All-NBA voting this year.

Alongside Giannis as the other forward was Boston Celtics All-Star Jayson Tatum, as he will be making an All-NBA team for the third time in his career and this would mark the second consecutive season he has been voted to the All-NBA First Team.

The two names in the backcourt on the All-NBA First Team may surprise many given that they are not the normal names on this list, but Donovan Mitchell from the Cleveland Cavaliers and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander from the Oklahoma City Thunder had stellar seasons.

In his first season with the Cavs, Mitchell averaged a career-high 28.3 points per game and led Cleveland to a 51-31 record, their best record since the 2016-17 season.

The Thunder were picked by many to finish last in the standings this season, but they went on to make the Western Conference Play-In Tournament thanks to Gilgeous-Alexander, who finished the year ranking fourth in both total points (2,135 points) and scoring (31.4 PPG), as well as first in 30-point games (45).

All the players on the All-NBA First Team list received 20 total votes with over half of them being first team votes.

NBA All-NBA Second Team

All-NBA Second Team Results: G Luka Doncic (Dallas Mavericks), G Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors), G/F Jaylen Brown (Boston Celtics), F Jimmy Butler (Miami Heat), C Nikola Jokic (Denver Nuggets)

While he won back-to-back MVP awards and was picked as a finalist for the award yet again, Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic finds himself on the All-NBA Second Team list in the voting process, finishing 10 total voting points behind Embiid.

Jokic could possibly make the All-NBA First Team in the actual vote as a forward, but compared to Tatum, he still finished four points behind in the voting process.

The Celtics had yet another fantastic regular season and while Jayson Tatum had a large part to play in their success, so did his fellow All-Star in Jaylen Brown. Averaging a career-high 26.6 points per game, Brown is not only an elite offensive weapon in Boston, but he has become one of the best two-way players in the entire league as well. Making his first All-NBA team should be a no-brainer this year.

Jimmy Butler is another guy who gets things done on both ends of the floor and he rallied the Miami Heat late in the season to get into the playoffs, helping them get past Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks in the first-round. This would be Butler’s fifth All-NBA selection.

As for the two guards in the backcourt, two superstars in Stephen Curry from the Golden State Warriors and Luka Doncic from the Dallas Mavericks fill these spots on the All-NBA Second Team.

Doncic was a favorite for the MVP award most of the season, as he finished the year averaging 32.4 points, 8.6 rebounds and 8.0 assists per game.

The greatest shooter in NBA history, Curry is on his way to making his ninth All-NBA appearance and has the Warriors in yet another good spot to make a title run. Curry finished the year averaging 29.4 points per game on 42.7 percent shooting from three-point range in 56 total games.

All-NBA Third Team Results: G De’Aaron Fox (Sacramento Kings), G Damian Lillard (Portland Trail Blazers), F Julius Randle (New York Knicks), F Kevin Durant (Phoenix Suns), C Domantas Sabonis (Sacramento Kings)

The Sacramento Kings have been the feel-good story of the 2022-23 NBA season and they have been led by their two All-Stars in De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis, both of which find their way onto the All-NBA Third team seen above. Fox even received one first team vote.

Alongside Fox in the backcourt is Portland Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard, who will likely appear on the All-NBA list for the seventh time in his career after averaging 32.2 points per game during the regular season.

New York Knicks All-Star Julius Randle and Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant occupy the two forward spots for the All-NBA Third Team.

Randle bounced-back in a big way this season, making his second All-Star appearance and averaging 25.1 points and 10.0 rebounds per game.

Traded to Phoenix midseason, Durant picked up right where he left off in Brooklyn. He did miss a lot of games due to injury, but when he was healthy, Durant was playing at an MVP level.

Anthony Davis and LeBron James are both possible selections for the actual All-NBA teams this year, but they both missed a substantial amount of time during the regular season, resulting in both Los Angeles Lakers stars missing out in the voting.

The same can be said for Suns guard Devin Booker and Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard.

The 2022-23 NBA Most Improved Player, Lauri Markkanen, received some consideration for the All-NBA teams, as did 2022-23 NBA Defensive Player of the Year Jaren Jackson Jr.

The only players to receive a second team vote and miss the cut were Lauri Markkanen, Kawhi Leonard, Devin Booker and Ja Morant.
