BREAKING: Chicago Bulls Reportedly Release A Player

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, the Chicago Bulls are waiving Marko Simonovic.

Marko Simonovic was the 44th pick in the 2020 NBA Draft and has spent the first two seasons of his career playing for the Chicago Bulls.

This past year, he appeared in seven games for the franchise.

On Thursday, Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium reports that the Bulls will waive the 23-year-old.

Via Charania: "The Chicago Bulls are waiving center Marko Simonovic, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Simonovic appeared in 16 games since signing with Bulls on multiyear deal in 2021."

In addition to his time in the NBA, Simonovic also spent a lot of time in the G League.

Last season, he averaged 15.9 points, 10.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists per contest while shooting 52.4% from the field and 39.3% from the three-point range in 25 regular season games.

Since he is still so young and has played well in the G League, Simonovic could receive interest from other teams.

The Bulls are in an interesting place as a franchise because they made the NBA Playoffs (for the first time since 2017) in 2022.

However, they are coming off a very disappointing year where they were the tenth seed in the Eastern Conference with a 40-42 record.

They beat the Toronto Raptors in their first play-in tournament game but lost to Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat in the second, so they missed the Playoffs for the fifth time in the previous six seasons.

That said, the roster features talented players such as DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine.
