Steven Adams is coming off a year where he appeared in 42 regular season games for the Memphis Grizzlies.

The veteran-center averaged 8.6 points, 11.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.1 blocks per contest while shooting 59.7% from the field.

On Sunday, the Grizzlies announced that Adams will miss the entire 2023-24 season.

Via Grizzlies PR: "Grizzlies center Steven Adams will undergo season-ending surgery on his right posterior cruciate ligament, after non-operative rehabilitation did not resolve ongoing knee instability. Adams is expected to make a full recovery ahead of next season."

Adams was initially the 12th pick in the 2013 NBA Draft and has played ten seasons in the league for the Oklahoma City Thunder, New Orleans Pelicans (and Grizzlies).

He has spent the previous two years with Memphis.

Over 706 regular season games, Adams has career averages of 9.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 blocks per contest while shooting 58.7% from the field.

The 30-year-old has played in 66 NBA playoff games and made the Western Conference Finals (twice) with the Thunder.

Being without Adams will be a significant loss to the Grizzlies, who are already playing the first 25 games of the season without All-Star point guard Ja Morant.

The Grizzlies will play their first game of the 2023-24 regular season on October 25 when they host Zion Williamson and the New Orleans Pelicans in Tennessee.

Last year, the Grizzlies lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the NBA playoffs (in six games).
