BREAKING: 76ers Reportedly Sign Recent Lakers Player

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Philadelphia 76ers are signing Mo Bamba.

Mo Bamba was the sixth pick in the 2018 NBA Draft out of Texas and spent the first four and a half seasons of his pro career with the Orlando Magic.

This past year, Bamba was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, who made the 2023 Western Conference Finals.

Following the season, the 24-year-old became a free agent, and ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports (on Wednesday) that Bamba is signing with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Via Wojnarowski's first tweet: "Free agent C Mo Bamba has agreed on a one-year deal with the Philadelphia 76ers, @PrioritySports’ Mark Bartelstein and agent Greer Love tell ESPN."

Via Wojnarowski's second tweet: "Philadelphia is bringing in Bamba with the intention of keeping restricted free agent Paul Reed, but Bamba gives the Sixers some security behind Joel Embiid if they do lose Reed."

Bamba finished the 2023 season with averages of 6.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per contest while shooting 48.5% from the field and 38.7% from the three-point range in 49 regular season games.

While he has not lived up to his star-potential, Bamba can be a very good backup center to 2023 NBA MVP Joel Embiid.

His career averages are 7.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per contest while shooting 47.6% from the field and 35.9% from the three-point range in 275 regular season games (he has also played in three NBA Playoff games).

The 76ers are coming off a season where they went 54-28 and were the third seed in the Eastern Conference.

They beat the Brooklyn Nets in the first round of the NBA Playoffs but lost to the Boston Celtics in the second round.
