BREAKING: Boston Celtics Reportedly Acquire 4-Year NBA Player

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Boston Celtics have made a trade.

UPDATE: The trade is official.

UPDATEJake Fischer of Yahoo! Sports reported that Lamar Stevens will go to the Memphis Grizzlies as part of the trade.

On Wednesday evening, the Boston Celtics will host Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks in Massachusetts.

Before the game, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the team has made a trade with the Memphis Grizzlies.

Via Wojnarowski: "The Memphis Grizzlies are trading F/C Xavier Tillman to the Boston Celtics for two second-round picks, sources tell ESPN."

Tillman was the 35th pick in the 2020 NBA Draft out of Michigan State and is in his fourth season in the league.

He has spent his entire career with Memphis, and is currently averaging 6.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.0 blocks per contest while shooting 40.8% from the field and 22.6% from the three-point range in 34 games.

Wojnarowski also added more details on the framework of the deal.

Via Wojnarowski: "The Celtics are sending a 2027 second via Atlanta and a 2030 second via Dallas to the Grizzlies, sources tell ESPN. Boston gets Tillman, a young, versatile frontcourt player who gives them some depth for a championship run."

The Celtics are the best team in the NBA, with a 38-12 record in 50 games.

They've reached the Eastern Conference Finals five times over the previous seven seasons but have been unable to win a title since 2008, when Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett were still on the roster.

A player like Tillman could be the difference maker in a playoff series.

As for the Grizzlies, they are the 13th seed in the Western Conference with an 18-33 record in 51 games.
