BREAKING: Cleveland Cavaliers Reportedly "Nearing An Agreement" With 3x NBA Champion

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Cleveland Cavaliers and three-time NBA Champion Danny Green are "nearing an agreement."

On Thursday, Danny Green was traded from the Memphis Grizzlies to the Houston Rockets.

The veteran guard did not end up playing in a game with the Rockets, and ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported (on Sunday morning) that he had agreed to a contract buyout.

Via Wojnarowski: "As Danny Green finalizes a buyout with the Houston Rockets, the Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics have emerged as frontrunners to sign him as a free agent, sources tell ESPN. Lakers and Suns are involved too."

Despite all of the teams with interest, Green is "nearing an agreement" with the Cavs (according to Wojnarowski).

Via Wojnarowski: "Three-time champion Danny Green is nearing an agreement with the Cleveland Cavaliers, his agent/attorney Raymond Brothers of @RocNationSports tells ESPN. The Cavs can offer Green significant opportunity to make an impact on a playoff team."

The 35-year-old has only played in three games this season because he recently returned from a torn ACL.

Before the injury, he had been on the Philadelphia 76ers and averaged 5.9 points per contest (on 38.0% shooting from the three-point range) during the 2021-22 season.

In addition to the 76ers and Grizzlies, the three-time NBA Champion has played for the San Antonio Spurs, Toronto Raptors, Los Angeles Lakers and Cavs.

His rookie season was in 2010 (with Cleveland) when LeBron James was still in his first tenure with the franchise.

Green is one of the most experienced role players in NBA history, as he has played in an astonishing 165 playoff games over 13 seasons.

For his career, he has averages of 8.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists per contest in 822 regular season games (while shooting 39.9% from the three-point range).

The Cavs have not been to the NBA Playoffs since 2018 but are in the middle of their best season in years.

They are the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference with a 37-22 record in 59 games.
