BREAKING: Dallas Mavericks Reportedly "Plan To Sign" Recent Trail Blazers Player

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, the Dallas Mavericks "plan to sign" a new player.

UPDATE: The Mavs have officially signed Brandon Williams to a two-way contract.

On Wednesday evening, the Dallas Mavericks are hosting the Cleveland Cavaliers in Texas.  

During the game, Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium reported that the Mavs "plan to sign" Brandon Williams. 

Via Charania: "The Dallas Mavericks plan to sign guard Brandon Williams to a two-way NBA deal out of the G League’s Osceola Magic, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Williams is averaging 23.9 points and 5.6 assists in G League this season."

Williams played his college basketball for Arizona and has spent part of one year in the NBA with the Portland Trail Blazers (2021-22).

That season, he played in 24 games (16 starts) and averaged 12.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.0 steals per contest while shooting 37.2% from the field and 29.2% from the three-point range.

He is also in his third season playing in the G League and is coming off a year where he averaged 19.8 points, 4.0 rebounds, 5.9 assists and 1.2 steals per contest while shooting 46.3% from the field and 36.1% from the three-point range in 27 regular season games. 

As for the Mavs, they are the fifth seed in the Western Conference with an 18-12 record in their first 30 games. 

They are 6-4 over their last ten games and in the middle of a two-game winning streak. 

Most recently, the Mavs defeated the Phoenix Suns by a score of 128-114 (on Monday in Arizona). 

Following Wednesday's game with the Cavs, they will visit Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday at the Target Center.
