BREAKING: Lakers, Timberwolves And Jazz Involved In Trade Talks Surrounding Russell Westbrook
The NBA trade deadline is in less than 24 hours and it appears as if a massive trade could be on the horizon.
On Wednesday afternoon, The Athletic's Shams Charania reported that the Los Angeles Lakers, Minnesota Timberwolves and Utah Jazz are involved in trade discussions centered around Russell Westbrook, D'Angelo Russell and Mike Conley.
Shams Charania: "The Lakers, Jazz and Timberwolves are in discussions on a three-team deal that would send D’Angelo Russell to the Lakers, Russell Westbrook and draft compensation such as a first-round pick to Utah and Mike Conley Jr. to Minnesota, sources tell me and @Tjonesonthenba."
The Lakers have shown interest in trading nine time All-Star Russell Westbrook since the offseason and with them currently being two games back of the Play-In Tournament region of the standings in the Western Conference, this front-office is feeling pressure to make a big move.
D'Angelo Russell, who spent two seasons in Los Angeles to begin his career, is in the final year of his contract and is set to become an unrestricted free agent in the offseason.
The Minnesota Timberwolves have shown a willingness to discuss him in trade talks in recent weeks.
As for the Utah Jazz, Mike Conley's name has come up in connection with the Lakers, but in this scenario as described by Charania, he would be going to the Timberwolves to replace D'Angelo Russell.
All three players are former All-Star talents and this could surely be the first big domino to fall, resulting in many other trades being made.
