BREAKING: LeBron James Made NBA History In Nuggets-Lakers Game

LeBron James made NBA history during Saturday's game.

On Saturday evening, LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers are hosting the Denver Nuggets in California.  

During the game, James made NBA history by becoming the first player ever to reach 40,000 career points. 

He came into the evening with 39,991 points, so he only needed nine to reach the milestone.

Despite turning 39 in December, James has been having another incredible season with averages of 25.3 points, 7.1 rebounds, 7.9 assists and 1.2 steals per contest while shooting 52.5% from the field and 40.8% from the three-point range in 53 games. 

Last season, the four-time NBA Champion moved ahead of Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (38,387) to become the all-time leading scorer

James is in his 21st season in the league and has made the NBA All-Star Game for an astonishing 20 straight seasons. 

In addition to the Lakers, he has also spent time with the Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers (twice). 

His career averages are 27.1 points, 7.5 rebounds, 7.4 assists and 1.5 steals per contest while shooting 50.5% from the field and 34.7% from the three-point range in 1,474 regular season games. 

The Lakers are the tenth seed in the Western Conference with a 33-28 record in 61 games. 

They are in the middle of a two-game winning streak and are 7-3 over their last ten games. 

Following the Nuggets, the Lakers will host the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday evening.
