BREAKING: Los Angeles Lakers Reportedly Sign 7-Year NBA Veteran

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Los Angeles Lakers are signing Christian Wood.

Christian Wood is coming off a year where he appeared in 67 regular season games for the Dallas Mavericks.

The former UNLV star averaged 16.6 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.1 blocks per contest while shooting 51.5% from the field and 37.6% from the three-point range.

This summer, Wood became a free agent, and ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports that he will sign with the Los Angeles Lakers

Via Wojnarowski: "Free agent F/C Christian Wood has agreed on a two-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, sources tell ESPN. Deal includes a player option."

In addition to the Mavs, Wood has also played for the Houston Rockets, Detroit Pistons, Philadelphia 76ers, Charlotte Hornets, Milwaukee Bucks and New Orleans Pelicans over seven seasons.

His career averages are 14.8 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists per contest while shooting 51.8% from the field and 37.9% from the three-point range in 289 regular season games (he has yet to appear in an NBA playoff game).

As for the Lakers, they are coming off a season where they were the seventh seed in the Western Conference with a 43-39 record.

They beat the Minnesota Timberwolves in the play-in tournament and the Memphis Grizzlies (second seed) and the Golden State Warriors (sixth seed) in the first two rounds of the NBA playoffs.

However, the Lakers lost to Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals.

Wood should be a significant addition to their team that already features LeBron James, Anthony Davis, D'Angelo Russell and Austin Reaves.
