BREAKING: Knicks Player Reportedly Signs With Timberwolves

According to Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic, the Minnesota Timberwolves will sign Trevor Keels to a training camp deal.

Trevor Keels is coming off his rookie year, where he played in three games for the New York Knicks.

On Monday, the Westchester Knicks (G League affiliate of the Knicks) announced that they traded Keels to the Iowa Wolves (G League affiliate of the Minnesota Timberwolves).

Via The Westchester Knicks: "The Westchester Knicks acquire the returning player rights to Matt Lewis and a 2024 first-round pick from the Iowa Wolves in exchange for the returning player rights to Trevor Keels."

Following the trade announcement, Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic reported that Keels will sign a training camp deal with the Timberwolves.

Via Krawczynski: "The Timberwolves have reached agreement with Trevor Keels on a contract for training camp, sources tell @TheAthletic. Keels is a former McDonald's All-American from Duke. He had a 2-way deal with the Knicks last season."

Keels was initially the 42nd pick in the 2022 NBA Draft and has also played in the G League for Westchester.

Last year, he averaged 13.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.0 steals per contest while shooting 42.5% from the field and 35.5% from the three-point range in 25 regular season games (he also appeared in 13 Showcase Cup games).

As for the Timberwolves, they are coming off a year where they were the eighth seed in the Western Conference with a 42-40 record.

They beat the Oklahoma City Thunder in the play-in tournament but lost to Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the NBA playoffs.
