BREAKING: Pelicans Reportedly Sign Recent Lakers And Timberwolves Player

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, the New Orleans Pelicans will sign Matt Ryan.

Matt Ryan is coming off a year where he appeared in 34 games for the Los Angeles Lakers and Minnesota Timberwolves.

The 26-year-old averaged 3.6 points per contest while shooting 37.0% from the field and 38.1% from the three-point range.

Ryan was recently waived by the Timberwolves, and Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium reports that he is now signing with the New Orleans Pelicans

Via Charania: "The New Orleans Pelicans are acquiring G/F Matt Ryan on a two-way contract off waivers, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Ryan – 38.1 percent from 3-point range in 35 games last year – provides a wing shooter for Pelicans, who start season minus Trey Murphy and Naji Marshall."

Ryan has played two seasons in the NBA for the Celtics, Timberwolves and Lakers.

He has a career average of 3.6 points per contest while shooting 36.3% from the field and 37.1% from the three-point range in 35 games.

Ryan has also played in the G League and has career averages of 19.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per contest while shooting 44.4% from the field and 40.1% from the three-point range in 37 regular season games.

He has proven to be a reliable three-point shooter, so this could be a good move by the Pelicans.

Meanwhile, the Pelicans will play their first game of the regular season on October 25 against the Memphis Grizzlies (on the road in Tennessee).

They are coming off a year where they lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the play-in tournament.
