BREAKING: Philadelphia 76ers Player Suffers Significant Injury

Eight-year NBA veteran Montrezl Harrell has a torn ACL and meniscus.

Montrezl Harrell is coming off a year where he averaged 5.6 points and 2.8 rebounds per contest while shooting 59.8% from the field in 57 regular season games for the Philadelphia 76ers (he also appeared in two NBA playoff games).

This summer, the former Louisville star became a free agent, but he re-signed with the 76ers in July.

Unfortunately, it's now been announced by the team that he has suffered a significant injury.

Via Gina Mizell of The Philadelphia Inquirer: "Sixers announce reserve big man Montrezl Harrell tore his ACL and meniscus in his right knee. It was revealed in an MRI following offseason workouts."

Harrell was one of their best bench players, so this could end up being a significant loss for the 76ers (depending on how long he is out).

In addition to his one season with the 76ers, Harrell has also played for the Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Clippers, Washington Wizards, Charlotte Hornets and Los Angeles Lakers.

His career averages are 12.1 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists per contest while shooting 61.9% from the field in 515 regular season games (he has also appeared in 32 NBA playoff games).

At one point, the 29-year-old was among the top five bench players in the league when he played for the Clippers.

As for the 76ers, they are coming off a season where they were the third seed in the Eastern Conference.

They swept the Brooklyn Nets in the first round of the NBA playoffs but lost to the Boston Celtics in the second round in seven games.
