BREAKING: San Antonio Spurs Reportedly Release 13-Year NBA Player

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, the San Antonio Spurs and Marcus Morris have agreed to a contract buyout.

On Thursday evening, the San Antonio Spurs will host the Oklahoma City Thunder in Texas.

Before the game, Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium reported that the Spurs have agreed to a contract buyout with Marcus Morris.

The veteran forward was traded (via the Philadelphia 76ers) earlier this season and did not appear in a game for San Antonio.

He has averages of 6.7 points and 2.9 rebounds per contest while shooting 43.9% from the field and 40.0% from the three-point range in 37 games (seven starts).

Via Charania: "Marcus Morris has agreed to a contract buyout with the San Antonio Spurs to become a free agent, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. The productive veteran forward secures playoff eligibility and is now candidate to join a postseason contender."

Morris was the 14th pick in the 2011 NBA Draft out of Kansas and is in his 13th season in the league.

In addition to the 76ers, he has played for the Los Angeles Clippers, Phoenix Suns, Detroit Pistons, Boston Celtics, Houston Rockets and New York Knicks.

His career averages are 12.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists per contest while shooting 43.5% from the field and 37.7% from the three-point range in 820 regular season games.

He has also appeared in 67 NBA playoff games (45 starts), so he could be a good addition to a contending team's bench.

As for the Spurs, they are in rebuilding mode and are the 15th seed in the Western Conference with an 11-48 record in 59 games.
