A Move The Chicago Bulls Must Consider

New York Knicks point guard Derrick Rose can be a free agent this summer.

On Friday night, the New York Knicks had their season come to and end when they lost Game 6 of their second-round playoff series to the Miami Heat (on the road) by a score of 96-92.

A victory would have forced a Game 7 back at Madison Square Garden, but instead, the Heat will advance to the Eastern Conference Finals.

Veteran point guard Derrick Rose played sparingly this season and only appeared in one Playoff game (for three minutes).

The 2011 MVP finished the regular season with averages of 5.6 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists per contest in 27 games.

He has a team option on his contract for the 2023-24 season, which would pay him $15.6 million.

It's fair to assume the Knicks will not pick up his deal, and the 34-year-old will likely go into free agency.

I believe the Chicago Bulls must consider signing Rose.

Why?

The former first-overall pick began his career with the Bulls and was one of the top players in the league (before injuries derailed his prime).

To this day, Rose is still one of the most popular players to ever play for the franchise.

In addition to the excitement for the fan base, he would also be able to help them significantly on the floor.

The Bulls need a point guard, as Lonzo Ball missed the entire 2022-23 season with a knee injury (and it doesn't appear he will return to playing any time soon).

Rose would likely be able to be signed for a minimum contract, so there would be no long-term investment needed.

It's a move that would make sense and could propel the team back to the NBA Playoffs.
