Chris Paul Makes NBA History In Suns-Clippers Game On Thursday Night

Despite losing the game 116-107, Phoenix Suns point guard Chris Paul made NBA history against the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday night.

Throughout his entire career, Chris Paul has always been known to be one of the best floor generals and facilitators this league has ever seen. However, one aspect of his game that goes severely under noticed is his defense.

Paul has always been a great on-ball defender despite being undersized in many people's eyes and on Thursday night against the Los Angeles Clippers, the Phoenix Suns veteran guard made NBA history.

Recording four steals against the Clippers, Paul notched his 2,515 career steal, passing Michael Jordan for third on the NBA's all-time steals list.

He now trails just Jason Kidd (2,684) and John Stockton (3,265) for the most steals in league history.

In addition to ranking third all-time in steals, The twelve-time All-Star also ranks third in league history in assists, as he has recorded 11,330 career assists.

Now in his 18th NBA season, Chris Paul continues to prove that he is one of the best point guards in league history and one could make a case that if he is not the greatest, he is right behind Magic Johnson for being the second-best in NBA history.

Thursday marked the 19th game this season in which Paul has recorded at least two steals, tied for 21st in the league, and his 62 total steals this season ranks 28th in the league.

Falling to the Clippers, the Suns enter the All-Star break with a 32-28 record, which puts them in the 5-seed spot in the Western Conference.

With Devin Booker healthy again and Kevin Durant expected to make his debut with the team following the All-Star break, Phoenix will have their eyes set on sneaking into the Top-4 of the standings and once again asserting themselves as one of the teams to beat in the league.
