Soon-To-Be Free Agent Center Tweets Cryptic Message

Christian Wood, who will be an unrestricted free agent in the summer, said his goodbye to Dallas on social media recently.

The 2022-23 season was not kind to the Dallas Mavericks, as Luka Doncic and Co. failed to make the playoffs for the first time since the 2018-19 season.

To make matters worse, it seems like the roster will undergo some massive changes, one of which involves center Christian Wood.

Thought to be a key addition this past offseason when the Mavericks traded for him, Wood never really seemed to carve out his role in Dallas and the team never really put him in a position to succeed.

In the final year of his contract and set to become a free agent in the summer, it does appear as if Wood will be playing elsewhere come time for the 2023-24 NBA season, especially after he posted a cryptic goodbye message to the city of Dallas on Twitter.

Christian Wood: "I want to thank everyone and mavs fans especially for there support this season. Dallas has a special place in my heart, Back to the grind .."

This message on social media from Wood comes days after NBA insider Marc Stein reported that Dallas won't attempt to re-sign the big man in free agency.

Playing in 67 games this past season, Christian Wood averaged 16.6 points and 7.3 rebounds in about 25.9 minutes per game, the least amount of minutes he has seen since the 2019-20 season when he was with the Detroit Pistons. He only started in 17 of the 67 games he played in this season with the Mavs.

A stretch big man who proved to be a key scoring weapon when he was with the Houston Rockets the two seasons prior to being traded to the Mavericks, Christian Wood will be one of the better players available in free agency this upcoming offseason.
