Dallas Mavericks Reportedly Make Intriguing Addition To Coaching Staff

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Alex Jensen will join the Dallas Mavericks as an assistant coach.

Jason Kidd has been the head coach of the Dallas Mavericks for each of the past two seasons.

The Hall of Fame point guard is in his third stop as a head coach, as he has also been at the helm for the Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks.

On Tuesday, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Kidd will add Alex Jenson to his coaching staff.

Via Wojnarowski: "Alex Jensen has agreed to join Jason Kidd's coaching staff with the Dallas Mavericks, sources tell ESPN. Jensen spent the past decade on the Utah Jazz's staff, including several seasons as the top assistant to Quin Snyder."

ESPN's Tim MacMahon also added more details about Jenson's history with the Jazz.

Via MacMahon: "Alex Jensen was a driving force in Rudy Gobert’s development into an All-NBA big man and three-time DPOY. Rookie lottery pick Dereck Lively II should benefit tremendously from Jensen joining the Mavs’ staff."

In 2022, Kidd and the Mavs were the fourth seed in the Western Conference and went all the way to the Conference Finals (they lost to the Golden State Warriors in five games).

However, they struggled this past year and finished as the 11th seed and had a 38-44 record.

That said, Luka Doncic has solidified himself as one of the ten best players in the NBA, and the team also traded for Kyrie Irving during the regular season.

Sham Charania of The Athletic and Stadium reported that Irving re-signed with the Mavs on a three-year deal.

Therefore they will again go into next season with one of the best rosters in the league.
