Dejounte Murray's Viral Tweet After Agreeing To Extension With Atlanta Hawks

Dejounte Murray sent out a tweet after reportedly agreeing to an extension with the Atlanta Hawks.

Dejounte Murray finished his first season with the Atlanta Hawks averaging a very productive 20.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 1.5 steals per contest while shooting 46.4% from the field in 74 games.

The 2022 NBA All-Star had one year left on his contract and was slated to become a free agent in the summer of 2024, but Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium reported that Murray is signing a new deal with the Hawks.

Via Charania on Thursday: "Atlanta Hawks All-Star Dejounte Murray and CEO of Klutch Sports Rich Paul are finalizing a four-year, $120 million veteran maximum extension with the franchise, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Deal includes a player option."

Following the news, Murray sent out a tweet that had over 7,000 likes and 1.1 million impressions in one day.

Murray tweeted: "ATLANTA #DM5🖤 Been Locked In From The Moment Y’all Accepted Me….. 💯 LOYALTY OVER EVERYTHING 🖤 Let’s Gooooooooooooooo!!!!!! #TrueToATLANTA"

The Hawks finished the 2023 season with a 41-41 record and were the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference (after beating the Miami Heat in the play-in tournament).

However, they lost in the first round of the NBA Playoffs to the Boston Celtics in six games.

Before the Hawks, Murray spent the first six seasons of his career with the San Antonio Spurs.

The 26-year-old has career averages of 14.0 points, 5.9 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.4 steals per contest while shooting 45.8% from the field and 33.5% from the three-point range in 394 games.
