Dennis Schroder's Viral Tweet After Signing With The Toronto Raptors

Dennis Schroder sent out a tweet after signing with the Toronto Raptors (he spent this past season with the Los Angeles Lakers).

On Friday evening, many players reportedly agreed to new contracts with NBA teams, as June 30 was the first day of free agency.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, veteran point guard Dennis Schroder will sign with the Toronto Raptors.

Via Wojnarowski: "Free agent G Dennis Schroder has agreed to a two-year, $26M deal with the Toronto Raptors, agent Mark Bartelstein of @PrioritySports tells ESPN."

Following the news, Schroder sent out a tweet that has gone viral with over 21,000 likes and 700,000 impressions in less than three hours.

Schroder tweeted: "TORONTO RAPTORS! 🔥💯"

Schroder will be a significant pickup for the Raptors, as Wojnarowski reported that starting point guard Fred VanVleet signed with the Houston Rockets.

Last year, Schroder played a vital role for the Lakers, averaging 12.6 points, 2.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists per contest while shooting 41.5% from the field in 66 games.

The Lakers were the seventh seed in the Western Conference with a 43-39 record and beat the Minnesota Timberwolves in the play-in tournament (Schroeder had 21 points) to make the NBA Playoffs.

They defeated the Memphis Grizzlies and Golden State Warriors but were swept by Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals.

As for the Raptors, they won the NBA Championship in 2019 but have been a mediocre team over the last few seasons.

In 2022-23, they were the ninth seed in the Eastern Conference with a 41-41 record but lost to DeMar DeRozan and the Chicago Bulls in the play-in tournament.
