On Saturday evening, the Memphis Grizzlies are in Texas facing off against the San Antonio Spurs.

Derrick Rose, who had missed the previous seven games, has returned to action, and during the game, he made NBA history by moving up on the all-time scoring list

Rose entered the evening with 12,414 career points, and he has now moved ahead of Charles Oakley (12,417) for 252nd on the list.

Following Oakley, the next player for Rose to pass will be Caron Butler (12,430).

Rose has played in four games so far this season and is averaging 8.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.8 assists per contest while shooting 32.4% from the field and 50.0% from the three-point range.

The Grizzlies are 2-9 in their first 11 games, which has them as the 15th seed in the Western Conference (last place).

They most recently lost to the Los Angeles Lakers by a score of 134-107 in California.

Following the Spurs, the Grizzlies will play their next game on Sunday when they host the Boston Celtics.

Rose is in his 15th season playing in the NBA (his first with Memphis), and has also played for the Chicago Bulls, Detroit Pistons, Cleveland Cavaliers, Minnesota Timberwolves and New York Knicks.

At one point, he was among the best players in the league and won the 2011 MVP Award.

The 35-year-old has done an excellent job of transitioning from a superstar into a role player and is coming off a year where he averaged 5.6 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists per contest in 27 games for the Knicks.
