Desmond Bane's Viral Tweet After Memphis Grizzlies Trade For Marcus Smart

Desmond Bane sent out a tweet after the reported trade between the Boston Celtics, Memphis Grizzlies and Washington Wizards.

On Wednesday evening ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported a three-team trade that took place between the Memphis Grizzlies, Washington Wizards and Boston Celtics.

The most significant pieces of the deal are 2018 All-Star Kristaps Porzingis going to the Celtics and 2022 Defensive Player of The Year Marcus Smart headed to the Grizzlies.

With the addition of Smart, the Grizzlies now have each of the last two Defensive Players of The Year (Jaren Jackson Jr. won the 2023 award).

Following the news of the trade, Desmond Bane sent out a tweet that is going viral.

Bane tweeted: "DPOY X2 😬😳"

Bane's post referencing both Smart and Jackson Jr. being teammates had over 7,500 likes and 515,000 impressions in less than nine hours.

The Grizzlies are a solid defensive team and ranked 12th in the NBA last season for opponents' points per game (112.9).

In addition, Smart will be able to help All-Star point guard Ja Morant on the offensive side of the ball as a playmaker.

The former Oklahoma State star had spent his entire career with Boston and is coming off a season where he averaged 11.5 points, 3.1 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 1.5 steals per contest while shooting 41.5% from the field.

He helped lead the Celtics to the second seed in the Eastern Conference, and they lost to the Miami Heat in Game 7 of the Conference Finals.

At 29, Smart has already played in an astonishing 108 career Playoff games and been to the Conference Finals five times over the previous seven seasons.
