Doc Rivers' Hilarious Quote Before 76ers-Nets Game

Doc Rivers met with the media before the Philadelphia 76ers beat the Brooklyn Nets.

On Saturday afternoon, the Philadelphia 76ers and Brooklyn Nets opened up the 2023 NBA Playoffs.

The 76ers won 121-101 on their home floor to take a 1-0 lead in the first-round series.

Head coach Doc Rivers is going up against his son-in-law (Nets guard Seth Curry), and before the game, he had a hilarious quote when asked about the situation (video via Erik Slater of ClutchPoints).

Rivers: "It's awkward, a little bit. It always is. I've had a family member on my team, but it is awkward. Talking to my daughter this morning, and I just thought she was really cold this morning, so I didn't appreciate the conversation."

Rivers once coached his own son (Austin Rivers) and also coached Curry prior to being traded to the Nets, so he has been through a few different family dynamics as an NBA coach.

Curry played 16 minutes and had ten points and one assist (he also shot 4/5 from the field).

The 76ers had an excellent regular season finishing as the third seed in the Eastern Conference with a 54-28 record.

Meanwhile, the Nets were the sixth seed (the final guaranteed playoff spot) with a 45-37 record.

Game 2 will be played on Monday night back in Philadelphia before the two teams head to Barclays Center in New York for Games 3 and 4 later in the week.

Last season, the Nets lost in the first round of the playoffs, while the 76ers made the second round (they lost to the Miami Heat).
