Former Dallas Mavericks Player Announces Retirement

Ryan Broekhoff, who spent two seasons in the NBA with the Dallas Mavericks, has announced his retirement.

Ryan Broekhoff initially went undrafted out of Valparaiso in 2013.

That said, he still found his way to the NBA and was signed by the Dallas Mavericks in 2018.

Over two seasons in Dallas, Broekhoff averaged 4.0 points and 1.8 rebounds per contest while shooting 42.7% from the field and 40.3% from the three-point range in 59 regular season games.

On Wednesday, the 32-year-old officially announced (via Instagram) that he will be retiring from basketball. 

Broekhoff captioned his post: "What an amazing journey basketball has taken me on. From a skinny kid playing around at Frankston to a skinny kid playing all over the world. I will be forever grateful to this game and even more thankful to everyone who has had played a part in this journey. Thank you to the coaches who became mentors. Thank you to the fans that became friends. Thank you to the teammates that become brothers and a special thank you to my family and wonderful wife for taking this crazy ride with me. ❤️"

Broekhoff was a stellar college player and averaged 15.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.0 steals per contest while shooting 41.7% from the three-point range during his senior season.

In addition to the Mavs, he also played internationally for eight seasons. 

His career averages were 9.0 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.1 assists per contest while shooting 45.4% from the field and 40.6% from the three-point range.
