On Thursday, the Golden State Warriors were part of a four-team trade with the Atlanta Hawks, Portland Trail Blazers and Detroit Pistons.

The notable details of the trade were the Warriors landing NBA Champion Gary Payton II and the Pistons getting 2020 second-overall pick James Wiseman.

However, on Friday night Shams Charania and Anthony Slater of The Athletic reported that Payton II had failed his physical with the Warriors.

Via Charania on Friday night: "Just in: A failed physical exam of Gary Payton II has placed the Golden State-Portland-Detroit-Atlanta four-team deal in serious jeopardy, sources tell me and @anthonyVslater. Payton's core muscle injury could sideline him for up to three months following a Warriors exam."

Despite the possibility of the deal falling through, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski now reports (on Sunday night) that the trade is done.

Via Wojnarowski: "The four-team trade involving Golden State, Portland, Atlanta and Detroit has been completed, sources tell ESPN. Players are cleared to start playing for new teams on Monday."

Payton II had spent last season playing for the Warriors and helped them win the title, with averages of 7.1 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.4 steals per contest.

In addition, they moved off of Wiseman, who is now going to a situation where he can get more playing time because the Pistons are in rebuilding mode.

The 21-year-old has serious potential, but playing on a team that has won a title in four out of the last eight seasons can make it challenging to develop as a young player.

Right now, the Warriors are the ninth seed in the Western Conference with a 28-28 record in 56 games.
