Giannis Antetokounmpo Made NBA History In Pelicans-Bucks Game

Giannis Antetokounmpo made NBA history during Saturday's game.

On Saturday evening, the Milwaukee Bucks are hosting the New Orleans Pelicans in Wisconsin. 

During the game, Giannis Antetokounmpo made NBA history by moving ahead of Rolando Blackman (17,623) for 87th on the all-time scoring list.  

Following Blackman, the next player for him to pass will be Rudy Gay (17,642). 

Antetokounmpo entered the evening with averages of 31.0 points, 11.7 rebounds, 6.3 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.1 blocks per contest while shooting 60.7% from the field in 43 games.

The two-time MVP remains among the seven best players in the league, and has led the Bucks to the second seed in the Eastern Conference with a 31-14 record in their first 45 games.  

That said, they are coming off a 112-100 loss (at home) to the Cleveland Cavaliers. 

In 36 minutes of playing time, Antetokounmpo had 22 points, 11 rebounds, nine assists, one steal and one block while shooting 9/13 from the field. 

Following the Pelicans, the Bucks will visit Jamal Murray and the Denver Nuggets on Monday evening in Colorado.

Antetokounmpo was the 15th pick in the 2013 NBA Draft and has spent his entire 11-year career with the Bucks. 

They have made the NBA playoffs in each of the previous seven seasons and won the 2021 title over the Phoenix Suns. 

As for the Pelicans, they are the seventh seed in the Western Conference with a 26-19 record in their first 45 games.

They are 5-5 over their last ten games and, after the Bucks, will visit the Boston Celtics on Monday evening.
