Giannis Antetokounmpo's Status For Bucks-Lakers Game

Giannis Antetokounmpo will be available for Sunday's game.

Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks will be in California to face off against the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday night for their third preseason game.

Antetokounmpo has yet to play in the preseason, and the Bucks are 1-1 in their first two games.

However, for Sunday's matchup, head coach Adrian Griffin told ESPN's Malika Andrews that Antetokounmpo (and Damian Lillard) will be available.

Andrews: "So, just to be clear, we haven't seen Damian Lillard or Giannis Antetokounmpo in a preseason game. Sunday is the date that we can circle?"

Griffin: "Sunday, yes."

Antetokounmpo is coming off another sensational year where he averaged 31.1 points, 11.8 rebounds and 5.7 assists per contest while shooting 55.3% from the field in 63 regular season games.

The Bucks were the first seed in the Eastern Conference with a 58-24 record (the best in the NBA), but they lost in the first round of the playoffs to the Miami Heat in five games (Antetokounmpo only played two full games).

The addition of Lillard gives the Bucks arguably the best duo in the NBA, as Lillard is a seven-time NBA All-Star.

This past year, he averaged 32.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 7.3 assists per contest while shooting 46.3% from the field and 37.1% from the three-point range.

The Bucks have made the NBA playoffs for seven straight seasons and won the 2021 NBA Championship over the Phoenix Suns.

Meanwhile, the Lakers are 2-2 in the preseason, coming off a year where they lost to the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals.
